Why jump on the Tallow trend?

Fabric softening began with tallow. Generations before blue jugs existed, textile mills conditioned stiff cotton with tallow-based mixtures — fat smoothing fiber is the original softening technology. The industry industrialized that chemistry and buried it under petroleum-derived additives, artificial dyes, heavy synthetic fragrance loads, and silicones. We went back to the source: grass-fed, pasture-raised tallow from U.S. family farms, and a formula short enough to read aloud.

We set out to build a healthier version of a typical fabric softener. Every supplier option was discontinued, out of stock, or impossible to get. Sixteen weeks of dead ends later, the answer turned out to be the original softener ingredient: tallow. The universe has jokes, and this one felt like it agreed with everything we’re about.

Will it ruin my towels?

No, softness and maximum absorbency trade off. 

• Towels: soften occasionally for plushness and run detergent-only washes between, or keep towel loads on our Organic Fabric Softener, which is built for exactly that. 

• Athleisure and loungewear: softener is a benefit (softer, less pilling); skip it only for true performance wear. 
• Cloth diapers: always use the Organic, as conditioning would reduce absorbency, and that is the one place it matters most.

What does it smell like?

Fresh Linen or Lavender & Lemon, whichever bottle you choose. That is the only scent in the product; the tallow itself is refined and deodorized. Want unscented softening? That is exactly what our Organic Fabric Softener  is for. 

Why does the label say flammable / not for children's flame resistant sleepwear?

This is standard for the entire fabric softener category. Conditioning can reduce the effectiveness of flame-resistant treatments, so every responsible softener carries the warning.
