Why has my soap developed a brown tint over time?Updated 3 months ago
Over time select scents from our lineup, particularly vanilla-based scents, may develop a translucent pink or brown color. This is a completely natural occurrence that does not disrupt the product’s performance or safety. The component within vanilla that gives it its characteristic flavor and smell, vanillin, is known to change its hue as it acclimates to its environment, sort of like a chameleon. Just like the color of vanilla extract and the pods themselves, soaps containing vanilla will become browner with time. We do not use any unnatural chemical additives to try and stop this natural process from occurring, which is how some less scrupulous brands can artificially create an alternative appearance for vanilla-scented and/or flavored products.
